Commonly used to enrich the surface carbon content of steel that case hardening provides. This is intended to produce a high-hardness, wear-resistant surface supported by a tenacious core.

CHARACTERISTICS

Used in medium sections that require intermediate hardenability, mechanical strength, and shock resistance.

APPLICATIONS

Worm screws and steering sectors, camshafts, secondary shafts, gears for trucks, crossheads, crowns, pinions, and crankshafts. It is also used in the manufacture of cemented bearings.
