CARBON STEEL

Carbon steel types include low, medium and high carbon content steels whose chemical composition is defined in broad ranges. Low-carbon steel has 0.30% or less carbon; medium-carbon steel has 0.30%-0.60%, and high-carbon steel has 0.60%-1.00% carbon content.

Steel 1030

CHARACTERISTICS

Water quenching steel, used for small parts of moderate strength. Slightly more resistant than lower carbon quality steels.

APPLICATIONS

Levers, seals and springs, bolts, pins and nuts. In wire form it is used in the manufacture of high-strength, hardened shank nails.
