STEEL BARS

CARBON STEEL

Carbon steel types include low, medium and high carbon content steels whose chemical composition is defined in broad ranges. Low-carbon steel has 0.30% or less carbon; medium-carbon steel has 0.30%-0.60%; and high-carbon steel has 0.60%-1.00% carbon content.

1030

CHARACTERISTICS

Water-quenchable steel used for small parts with moderate resistance. Slightly more resistant than steels with lower carbon content.

APPLICATIONS

Levers, seals and springs, bolts, pins and nuts. In wire form it is used in the manufacture of high-resistance, quenched nails.
