STEEL BARS

CARBON STEEL

Carbon steel types include low, medium and high carbon content steels whose chemical composition is defined in broad ranges. Low-carbon steel has 0.30% or less carbon; medium-carbon steel has 0.30%-0.60%; and high-carbon steel has 0.60%-1.00% carbon content.

1020

CHARACTERISTICS

More resistant and less deformable than 1016. Used in conditions where surface hardening is necessary, but core tenacity is not critical.

APPLICATIONS

Large cross-section axles that do not endure major demands. Other applications include hardened pins and chains, automotive wheelframes, and cathode and anode bars.
